AUTO TECH STUDENT HEADS TO STATE COMPETITION

Robert Anderton, a West Shore Auto Tech student, took second at the Automotive Regional Skills USA contest held March 5 at Ohio Technical College. One student from 15 regional schools competed. The top three finishers compete at the state level in Columbus in late April. Anderton is the 3rd Westshore Auto student to reach the state level in the last 5 years.

Anderton also was honored last month when he teamed with Mike Lamoreaux to finish in third place at the 18th annual Cleveland Automotive Technology Competition held at the I-X Center on Feb. 28. Each team was given 2 hours to repair bugs/faults intentionally set on their vehicles, a 2010 Buick Lucerne. The competition, part of the Auto Show, is open to students from across northern Ohio who first participate in a written exam. The five highest scoring teams on the written exam were selected to compete in the hands-on competition. The Lakewood team will receive $600 scholarship toward an automotive program at sponsoring schools.
